Why would people bother buying games with money when they can download illegal torrents? What do you think?

To be totally honest, downloading games from Steam is less painful than torrenting them.
A - I think most people are buying because if they didn't, the entire industry would collapse.



B- I am among those who buy them. I like showing my support to companies who make games especially games I support. I love every single Shin Megami Tensei game out there, so I buy them all and happily give Atlus my money. Bioware could do no wrong, so they get my money too. If they continue making games I like I'll continue giving them my money. When a company falls one to many times, the best way to show them is to stop buying there titles and supporting them (I'm looking at you Square Enix). Besides, if every bought the games illegally, then the company would fail and there would be no new games.Why would people bother buying games with money when they can download illegal torrents? What do you think?
Well, sometimes, in those illegal torrets, there can be some trojan virus or malware hidden in the download that can mess with your computer.



Also, since I met with the people create the games, like the folks in Firaxis, I know each of them work 60+ hours a week, mostly without sleep. I would like to see them to get paid well, and not get f**ked by pirates
You would think that in the beginning but you probably don't know all the details about using torrents. Most of them can possibly carry malicious code that will seriously screw up your system or worse, but if people want to infest their computer system with malicious code and all that other funky stuff, then be my guest. *smh* If you REALLY like the game or whatever, just go buy it and support our large and diverse gaming community...who knows, that cash can determine the difference between a hot new title or just some mediocre sequel....

Why bother buying anything when you just can just burglarize it?

Besides, if you thought a little bit further, and if EVERYONE just stole their games instead of buying. The entire industry would screech to a halt. Devs wouldn't make money, publishers would stop publishing, games would stop being made, everyone loses.

Obviously that won't happen because there seems to be a fair amount of honest people who would rather buy their games. I've already seen a few dev companies (mainly indie devs) talk about how much money they lost because of pirates.

I don't buy games because I want them, and have to overcome the obstacle of paying in order to obtain them. I buy games because I support the developers. I almost always buy my games new, I never pirate on PC unless I absolutely HAVE to (games that are out of print, and not sold online). Even in that case it's very rare thanks to Good old Games.com
Why would people bother making games for people who are only going to download them illegally?

If everyone had the same mindset as you then everyone would steal everything. Then there would be no reason for anything to be made.



Most people are buying because most people are honest and believe people should be paid for their work.



Would you work for free?
Because they're spoiled/entitled assholes who'd rather put companies out of business than spend a few bucks.
I guess I'm just old fashioned where I think that the people making it should get payed for their work. If they don't get payed, they have no reason to work any longer.
you might get virus's if you download it illegally, it's always safer if you buy it from a store
because some people (me) do not really understand torrents so they prefer to actually by the game and easily install instead of going through the all of the painful hard things.
