Can you get money from playing video games?

Is there a web site that pays you, not in paypal but in cash or checks, for playing and winning games that you play on the PS3?Can you get money from playing video games?
Not to my knowledge. The closest thing you can do to make money by playing games is being a tester for a specific company. But there are two problems with that idea: one, you have to play really crappy games, and two, you have to pay money to participate in the program and receive the proper materials prior to testing games. You'll also have to keep a log of how many hours you have played, what you like/dislike about the game, and any bugs/flaws you found. Experienced testers can earn upwards of $30/hour. Starting out, you can expect $10/hour.



Also, you may want to look into playing online games for people who have to be away for part of the day, like for work, so they can level up. People do this on PC already and they make a killing. I'm sure you can do the same on PS3.

probably not web sites, but if you watch ESPN, there's a show called Madden Nation where guys play Madden 09 (or 10 this year) to win $50k! there's also Rock Band or Guitar Hero contests I'm sure, so if you look up stuff like that i'm sure you'll find something. =D
