Can people make money by playing training card games or video games?

I love playing video games and I'm learning how to play Poke'mon TCG. I'm just wondering, so, I need a reason. By the way, it's not gambling, or is it?Can people make money by playing training card games or video games?
you can make money from it (that's what I want to do too), but you have to be an expert, play in many tournaments (which I do lately) or get a job out of a big gaming company. I play pokemon and yugioh, I do enough to keep the habit, maybe 1500-2000$ a year, but it pays for the game and the cards and that's about it, you can also sell the cards, but you need to be lucky to get anything for them
Video games their are usually teams and if you win then you get prize money. In Japan and China alot of people live together and practice games like DotA, HoN, LoL. It's really fun but the thing is if you won't win then you don't get money. Card games usually no. Like yugioh and stuff when you win you get more cards and rarer cards which i guess you can sell but don't expect any prize money unless you make it to the national tournament.Can people make money by playing training card games or video games?
You can't make much money or any money by playing pokemon. There is just not that many organized tournaments anymore. You can play magic and make tons of money. I've made thousands from playing. Playing video games will not get you much money I don't think unless you compete in really big tournaments at conventions like comic con.
so Eric, because they are good at the game and make "millions a year", just like you stated, makes them a nerd? Seems to me like someone might be a bit jealous.



But onto the question. Yes, you can make some money doing that, but it takes a huge skill level and not a small amount of chance to get a sponsorship. There are how many millions of people playing a computer game at this exact moment and how many of them are doing it professionally? Probably a few handfuls of people.

I would stick to school and college for that degree. I don't mean that something "might" not happen but I wouldn't hinge my future on it.Can people make money by playing training card games or video games?
yes for games like halo reach or cod but prob not pokemon to make money you have to be a pro gamer and join a MLG league. so yeah there you go as for card games if your good at poker you could join a league but thats about it. BTW im a boss (so just thought you should know that.... homeboy.
ppl playing magic the gathering go to big huge tournaments around the world and win millions cause there huge nerds:) but you have to have major skills in order to get into these so i think your chances are pretty slim unless your a nerd hope i helped
