I have red 6 poker books and invested 3 mo total in hours into this game, not to mention the money i have lost and still I cant win a big pot! what are the odds if your a pro please do tell your secret. How many games does it take in 1 lifetime to become a poker pro and make big money?
Any good pro would tell you that they are still learning. Even Doyle. Which books did you read? Theory of Poker/hold'em by Sklansky, anything by Dan Harrington, Mike Caro or Super Systems.
There are so many factors to consider when thinking about your poker image and what kind of poker player you are. Bankroll is the most important factor. It dictates the level that you can play at and how committed you are to playing. The lower the level that you play at the worse the players. What I mean is the more likely someone will call your all in with a flush draw regardless of pot odds. The more likely they will rely on luck instead of skill and patience. If your playing online....STOP! You will never get a real sense of the game until its in its natural environment. Find a good 1 2 hold'em game and play tight but aggressive. Really just wait until you have a set or straight and bet heavy. Don't limp in with anything less than suited connectors and don't open raise with anything less than pocket J's.
Keep reading. Keep a book on what your spending/winning. I spent thousands of dollars before I became consistent at a profit and its still a roller coaster ride of ups and downs no matter if you make the right choices or not.
"Poker is a game that takes minutes to learn and lifetime to master" or so they say. It's also been said that "Poker is a hard way to make an easy living."
As a poker pro I have found both the above statements to be 100% accurate.
The difference between a poker pro and an amateur is the ability leverage small advantages or time to profit consistently. It does take time and experience to master the fundamentals and develop a feel for what what your opponent is up to.
If for example, you take 10 people and play 10,000 hands with them and they all play the cards perfectly they should all break even. In the real world most will lose and one maybe two will have profited substantially.
I've played thousands of hours of poker and have come to understand that there are no secret techniques that will turn you into a poker pro overnight. I know it isn't sexy but what you need to do is work on the fundamentals of the game and master them. Figure out what your strengths are and build on those. Be honest with yourself, keep records and do everything you can to plug any leaks in your game. Once you've done that it comes down to time and experience. So practice, practice, practice.

Heres a secret: Open up 6 tables at an online site like pokerstars and play .5/.10. Try to buyin 10 dollars for each one of these tables. Thats 60 dollars in all. Make sure you have another 300 to use so you can reload.
Then play very tight. Just play the premier hands like AJs+, KJs+, 22-AA, JTs, QJs.
Even though you are playing so tight, you will be playiong a decent amount because you are playing 6 TABLES. When you first startt never bluff, and slowplay occasionaly. Bet your top pair hands etc
Once you get what you need to do postflop, and most iimportantly preflop you can play a little looser. You can also be more aggressive. How many games does it take in 1 lifetime to become a poker pro and make big money?
i'd just analyse every move and why?
and i'd simply play and the lowest limits possible or even the fake money games from every website for e.g. http://pokerstars.net or http://partypoker.net try those out. dont go over you skill level if you arent ready.
and the thing that the guy told you above is just wrong dont do that; if you cant handle one table with that kind of stakes you cand handle six at all.
Hunt and look for weak players
If you are sitting at table and don't see the 5 pppl are obviously bad player leave
Learn pot odds
It doesn't take practice. Some people are just naturally better than other.
