Why does it cost money to make games?

Take WolfQuest for instance. Why would it cost money to make the sequel they're coming out with if they already have the programs? I don't see why it would cost hundreds/thousands of dollars for a game they're not advertising or anything. (Most people know about it from other people talking about it.)Why does it cost money to make games?
There's a lot of things that fall into play here just like running a house and then there's paying the employees.



The better you want your game to be, the more work it needs



The more work you give your employees, the more pay they need



and then it all comes back when people buy the game



and if the company makes a profit, they bump up the level in their next game

Because the people making it are doing it as a job not as a fun hobby thing. It costs money for people to spend time to make such games. Also the programs/computers have to be updated once in a while.. and they are not cheap believe me.Why does it cost money to make games?

it cost money to do ANYTHING. what about the lights in the building, the heat, the water, the people who have to work on it. people doing anything is going to cost money, its why games like warcraft have monthy subscriptions. they dont have to make anything but they still have to have people working on it, they have to pay for the electricity, and all that stuffWhy does it cost money to make games?

To be honest it depends on what you like.. for example I bought Brink and a lot of people say it wasn't worth the price when I think it was.

halo reach, batman arkham asylum, naruto UNS2, halo 4 ( hopefully) just buy ps3 its all HD 1080 and u get better titles like LBP, god of war , killzone etc + blu ray.

Well, if you are looking to get paid for video game testing... Keep in mind you must atleast be 18 years old, for starters. I know it stinks... I know many 10-13Yr. olds that are amazing at video games. " But thats just the way it is"



Another thing if you are 18yrs or older... Don't believe ll the hype about making $80-$150 dollars an hour. Someday you may get there... But just expect for starters "Realistically" more like $10-$12 maybe $20 if your real good and well organized and are able to catch all the bugs and errors on all the levels you must play.
